Tehran (IP) – Energy Commission of Iran's Parliament hosted the energy minister on Wednesday morning to investigate the recent blackouts across the country.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at the commission’s meeting, Reza Ardekanian stated that some industries should halt their activities for two weeks to lessen electricity usage.

He also noted that 3,643 centers illegally producing Bitcoin stopped their activities because they used 570 MB of electricity.

He said that the US' severe sanctions on Iran had caused many power plants to stop operating.

Referring to various organizations' efforts, Ardakanian highlighted: "Two nights ago, we had 6,000 Megawatt electricity cut-off which reduced to 1,500 Megawatt last night."

The Energy Commission members urged the formation of a crisis headquarters in the current situation.

At the end of the session, parliamentarians agreed to short-term and long-term plans to solve the electricity crisis, using the countries’ capacities.
