In a meeting with the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Yemeni foreign minister stressed the need to put pressure on aggressor countries to adhere to human rights, end the siege of Yemen, and move toward peace.

Iran PressMiddle East: During the meeting, Hisham Sharaf Abdullah also stressed the readiness of the relevant agencies in Yemen to provide the necessary facilities to the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross and its staff to carry out their missions.

Peter Maurer, for his part, explained the activities of the ICRC and stressed the readiness of the international organization to provide the necessary assistance to the Yemeni people in order to reduce the humanitarian problems.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, invaded Yemen in March 2015. The outbreak of war by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has so far killed tens of thousands and displaced millions of Yemenis.

The Saudi military aggression has also left the impoverished country of Yemen severely short of food and medicine.
