Tehran (IP) - The Director general of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran reported a trade growth between the country and Armenia.

Iran PressIran news: Meeting with the Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Varos Simonyan on Wednesday in Tehran, Hamid Zadboom believes that removing non-tariff obstacles, reducing transportation costs and the preferential trade agreement between Iran and Armenia are behind the growth of trade between the two countries.

The Armenian official, for his part, stressed the utilization of the ignored trade capacities between the two countries.

Due to a number of reasons, including its membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), enjoying a joint border with Iran, etc., Armenia is considered a bridge for Iranian traders with the EAEU, and it is necessary to assess and pursue accessible trade opportunities, Simonyan said.

According to the latest statistics released by the Armenian government, the value of the country's bilateral trade with Iran in the first four months of 2021 was more than $ 136 million, which shows a 35% growth compared to the same period last year.

Armenia is the only country in the EAEU which shares joint land border with the Islamic Republic of Iran in a way that Armenia can pave suitable ways for the Islamic Republic of Iran to get access to lucrative market of Eurasian Economic Union.
