Iran voices readiness to host Afghan peace talks

Kabul (IP) - The Special Representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry for Afghan affairs said that Iran would be ready to host Afghan peace talks.

Iran PressIran news: "Tehran is ready to host peace talks in Afghanistan," said Mohammad Ibrahim Taherian Fard, Special Representative of the Iranian foreign ministry for Afghan affairs, during a meeting with Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar in Kabul on Wednesday.
Taherian Fard added: "Iran supports the Afghan government's peace plan and initiatives that can help the success of this process by maintaining the framework of the Islamic Republic."
During the meeting, the Afghan Foreign Minister called for the strengthening of a regional consensus for the success of the Afghan peace process and described Iran's role in this regard as essential and valuable.
