Tehran (IP) - A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran's Parliament believes that the US' irresponsibility was the main reason for the Taliban's rising in Afghanistan.

Iran PressIran News: In an interview with Iran Press over the Taliban's recent movements in Afghanistan, Fada-Hossein Maleki pointed to the Afghan troops' weakness and the fall of some border cities near the eastern borders of Iran as a common concern for Afghanistan and Iran.

Emphasizing that Afghanistan's problems were because some elements hindered power transition to the Afghan government, Maleki noted that the United States did not seek peace in Afghanistan and only pursued its own interests.

Highlighting the geographical importance of Afghanistan and Iran, the lawmaker stressed that Iran should hold meetings with its neighbouring and regional countries as soon as possible.
