Copa America 2021:
Uruguay announced its final list for Copa America

The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) announced this Thursday the 26 players chosen by the Master Oscar Washington Tabarez to defend Celeste in the Copa America in Brazil.

Iran PressAmerica: With the presence of five local players (three from Nacional and two from Peñarol), the only changes in relation to those called up for the two qualifying dates against Paraguay and Venezuela are the presence of Edinson Cavani (who was suspended), and those already recovered Maximiliano Gomez (enters through the Colo Ramírez de Liverpool) and Giorgian De Arrascaeta, the latter two had been summoned for the Qualifiers but at the time were discarded for having coronavirus.

In turn, Tabarez kept left-back Camilo Candido, who had entered for the injured Joaquín Piquerez, and Brian Ocampo, summoned at the last minute by De Arrascaeta’s positive PCR within hours of facing Paraguay.

It should be noted that the coach decided to summon 26 players despite having the possibility of summoning 28 (Brazil nominated 24), and that the midfielder Fernando Gorriaran once again won a place in a new call to Mauro Arambarri.

As for the casualties, the absences of the forwards Darwin Nunez and Cristhian Stuani stand out, who are working to get into optimal physical condition after having different physical problems at their Benfica and Almería clubs, respectively.

Uruguay’s complete list for the Copa América dispute:

– ARCHERS: Fernando Muslera (Galatasaray from Turkey), Martín Campana (Al-Batin from Saudi Arabia) and Sergio Rochet (National).

Copa America 2021 will finally take place after being halted in 2020 due to the pandemic outbreak. Argentina and Colombia were expected to co-host the tournament, but neither of them seemed ready to organize it, and Brazil were granted the hosting rights once again.
