Iran, Tatarstan officials meet on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg Forum

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan of Russia, and Director General of the Trade Promotion Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran met on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.

Iran PressEurope: In this meeting, the fields of oil and gas, petrochemicals, drilling equipment, energy, equipment of refineries and petrochemical plants, automotive and food industries, and agricultural products were discussed.

Regarding the opportunities for cooperation between Iran and Tatarstan, Director General of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Hamid Zadboom said: "The Republic of Tatarstan in Russia has a very high capacity for importing from Iran, as well as exporting oil, gas and petrochemical equipment in order to modernize and optimize these industries."

"This republic is also the hub of the Russian automobile industry, and Russia's largest automotive cluster is located in this republic," he added.

According to Alireza Jafari, representative of the Iranian Chamber of Cooperatives in Russia, who attended the meeting, a consortium was formed with the participation of 5 countries of the Eurasian Union, focusing on Tatarstan, to solve the problems of these countries in areas of automotive, oil, gas and petrochemicals, producing rubber and other similar cases.

According to Jafari, the largest economic summit of Islamic countries will be held in the republic at the end of July, and Russia has invited Iranian officials to participate in the summit and visit the halal products exhibition that will be held within its framework.

Albert Karimov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, while positively assessing the meeting, has said that the Republic of Tatarstan is very important in the production of agricultural products and can help Iran in supplying basic goods such as corn, barley, sunflower oil, and other needed products.

Zadboom also announced the formation of a delegation to participate in the meeting and the establishment of an Iran booth at the Tatarstan Halal Products Exhibition.

The Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan also said that the republic would participate in the first Eurasian exhibition in Tehran (July 9-12). The two sides stressed the need for continued cooperation between the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran and the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan.
