Asia (IP) - The second General Conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of Economic Cooperation Organization (PAECO) has ended its work while opposing US unilateral sanctions against Iran.

Iran PressAsia: The delegations present at the final statement of the Second General Assembly of the Speakers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Islamabad condemned the US unilateral sanctions against Iran trans-geographical measures and political pressure, declaring it an unacceptable tool contrary to the UN Charter and international law.

They stressed their firm support for those members of the Economic Cooperation Organization who are facing such political and illegal actions.

The closing meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Economic Cooperation Organization (PAECO) Summit was held on Wednesday in the presence of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the chairmen of the delegations present.

Ruhollah Motefaker Azad, a member of the Education and Research Commission, spoke on behalf of the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran in a virtual speech at the closing session of the ECO Summit.

The Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, on behalf of the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, together with the Speakers of the ECO Member States and the representatives of the delegations, signed the closing statement called the "Islamabad Declaration".

According to a statement from Islamabad, members of the ECO Assembly agreed that the third meeting of the organization's chairmen would be hosted by Afghanistan next year in Kabul.

The first meeting of the Speakers of the ECO Member States (February 11, 2013) was hosted by the Pakistani Parliament.

Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan are members of ECO.
