Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde met with the head of the Yemeni National Salvation Government's negotiating team, Mohammed Abdul Salam, in Muscat, Oman.

Iran PressMiddle East: After the meeting, the Swedish Foreign Minister announced that she had talked to Mohammed Abdul Salam about the humanitarian situation in Yemen, the establishment of a ceasefire and the revival of the political process in the country.

During this meeting, the head of the negotiating team of the Yemeni National Salvation Government emphasized lifting the oppressive siege of Yemen and called for the import of medicine and petroleum products into the country.

Yemen has been facing severe shortages of fuel, food and medical equipment for the past six years due to the siege of the Saudi aggression coalition.

Mark Lowcock UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, recently stated that Yemen is facing the worst humanitarian catastrophe in history.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, invaded Yemen in March 2015. The outbreak of war by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has so far killed tens of thousands and displaced millions of Yemenis.

The Saudi military aggression has also left the impoverished country of Yemen severely short of food and medicine.
