Hakim: Iraq; supporter of Palestine

The leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, expressed his opposition to the normalization of ties with the Israeli regime, saying that his country supported the Palestinian nation.

Iran PressMiddle East: Meeting with Palestine's Foreign Minister Riyadh al-Maliki, Sayyed Ammar Hakim admired the Palestinian nation's victory over the Israeli regime.

Hakim stressed taking advantage of the recent victory to improve national unity and confront the regime, pointing out that the Palestinian issue was not subject to the passage of time.  

He said Palestinians' top priority to achieve their rights was to strengthen the internal front and the cooperation of all Palestinian forces, adding that the issue of Palestine was still alive in the Arab, Islamic, and human conscience, despite all problems.

Reiterating previous positions on opposing the normalization of ties with the regime, Hakim emphasized the Palestinians' right to have an independent state and return to their lands.

"The nation, the government, the religious authority, and the social activists in Iraq all support Palestine, and this is the consensus of all Iraqi groups and factions", the leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement said.

During the meeting, which was held in the office of the Leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement and attended by a group of leaders of the National Iraqi Alliance Forces and the Palestinian Ambassador to Baghdad, Ahmed Al-Aql, the Palestinian Foreign Minister briefed the participants on the details of recent developments in the Palestinian territories, praising Iraq's role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
