Tehran (IP) - Director-General of Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants Affairs of the Interior Ministry said that Iran behaved the same as Iranian citizens with Afghan refugees during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Iran PressIran news: In an interview with Iran Press, Director-General of Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants Affairs of Interior Ministry added that amid the spread of coronavirus, Afghan refugees have quarantined in their immigrant cities and have been trained to observe health protocols.

Mahmoudi highlighted that all of the Afghan schools have been closed and virtual training began for them like other Iranian students.

"Iran has received some aid from international unions and has distributed them among Afghan refugees," he noted.

"Those refugees who have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic have received financial aid from Iran," Mahmoudi added.

Referring to refugees’ return to their homeland, Mahmoudi said that Afghan refugees will be supported by Iran's government and United Nations so that they can learn a profession and create job opportunities in their country after returning.

"Also, through agreements with the Ministry of Science, Afghan students can continue their education in Afghanistan," Mahmodi concluded.
