Damascus is moving in right direction of democracy: Amir-Abdullahian

Tehran (IP) - The Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament for International Affairs, referring to the presidential elections in Syria, stressed that Damascus is moving in the right direction of democracy.

Iran PressIran News: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament for International Affairs, wrote on Twitter on Thursday: "The holding of the presidential elections in Syria shows that Damascus is moving in the right direction of democracy."

Amir-Abdullahian wrote that the governments that resorted to the terrorist war with the aim of collapsing and disintegrating Syria are now opposed to the presidential elections in Syria, but the people will make their choice.

The Syrian Presidential Election has begun for Syrian citizens outside the country.

Presidential elections inside Syria will also be held on May 26, 2021, and the three candidates for the presidency are Bashar al-Assad, the current president, Abdullah Sallum Abdullah, and Mahmoud Ahmad Marai.
