Iran Press/ Iran News: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said during the fourth round of nuclear talks, which lasted for two weeks, “good progress” was made in terms of moving ahead in the nuclear talks but a few key issues remain unresolved which means that the negotiating teams should return to capitals to make some decisions.
"The framework of the agreement has been determined, but some key issues are still in dispute and have not been resolved yet, so the delegations decided to take a few days off and return to the capitals for consultations," Araghchi added.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister stated that Iran's stance is quite clear, stating that the parties involved in the talks are working on two issues: "lifting of sanctions" and "nuclear deal"; The United States must first lift all sanctions, and Iran will return to its commitments only after verifying the lifting of US sanctions.
Araqchi concluded by noting that the next round of talks is set to resume in Vienna next week and expressed hope that negotiations would take a better turn next week.
The fourth round of Vienna nuclear talks began in early May when negotiators from Iran and the P4+1 groups of countries as well as the U.S. returned to the Austrian capital after a short stay in capitals which included briefing and consultation meetings with senior officials.
Iran is in close contact with China and Russia as well as the three European signatories to the JCPOA. On Friday, Araghchi met with the Chinese envoy to the Vienna talks, Wang Qun. During the meeting, the two diplomats discussed the latest developments concerning the talks.
During Donald Trump's presidency, Washington unilaterally imposed economic terrorism with the aim of putting maximum pressure on the Iranian people.
Biden has criticized the White House's previous policy toward Iran, but he has said his return to JCPOA is conditional on Iran's actions. He has promised that Washington will return to the agreement if Iran returns to full implementation.
The Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes that "it will return to its obligations when the United States lifts all sanctions in practice, not verbally or on paper, and these lifting of sanctions must be verified by Iran." 219
