Tehran (IP) - Iran's energy minister says 10 million villagers in 13,470 villages have access to potable water.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at the inauguration of seven utility macro projects across the country, Reza Ardakanian stated that at the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, there had been only four refineries, and at the beginning of the 11th government, the number reached 168 and now, 85 refineries have been added all over Iran.

He noted that implementing utility projects would continue until the end of President Rouhani's administration.

"It is necessary to change all management structures to combat drought and adapt to the weather conditions," said the minister.

Preventing wastage of water had been a great responsibility, and the necessary training should be given to high-consumption consumers, or else they would be fined if they do not comply, he pointed.

Water supply and expansion of water networks had been among the government's priorities, Ardakanian said, noting that significant changes had also taken place in the electricity sector.
