Tehran (IP) – The spokesman of the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus stresses that the fourth COVID wave in Iran is being managed and controlled.

Iran PressIran News: In a press conference on Saturday about the latest status of the coronavirus in the world and Iran, Alireza Raisi referred to the invasion of COVID-19 variants, including the South African and Indian variants, saying that the new variants continue to spread in various parts of the world, and the situation of India is worrying.

Noting that over 80 percent of the virus detected in the fourth COVID wave in Iran was of the UK variant, he stated that the UK variant had caused the fourth wave.

"The UK variant posed a serious challenge to the UK's healthcare system, and the virus spread to other European countries," he pointed.

Saying that the fourth COVID wave in Iran is being managed and controlled, Raisi added that the COVID status in 25 provinces of the country had stabilized, and the increasing trend had stopped.

Noting that the South African COVID variant should be taken seriously in the south and southeast of Iran by officials.

He highlighted: "198 cities are classified as red zones, 157 as orange, 84 as yellow, and 9 cities as blue zones.
