Tehran (IP) – The spokesman for the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus said serious measures should be taken to curb the new wave of COVID-19, saying that the first phase of vaccination is underway.

Iran PressIran News: In a press conference on Wednesday evening, Alireza Raeisi stated that the trend of coronavirus in Iran had been increasing, and over 40,000 hospital beds were used for COVID patients.

He noted that about 700,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine had been imported from the COVAX and about 400,000 doses from China.

He announced that the second phase of vaccination would begin in early May, and the elderly and patients with special diseases would be vaccinated.

Raeisi noted that in the second phase, we need about 12 million doses of vaccine, and all target groups would be vaccinated by the end of the Iranian year 1400 (March 20, 2022).
