Ilham Aliyev:
Borders of Azerbaijan, Iran are borders of friendship

The President of the Azerbaijan Republic stressed that the common borders of his country with the Islamic Republic of Iran were borders of friendship.

Iran PressAsia: Referring to the necessary measures to strengthen the protection of the common borders immediately after the end of the Nagorno-Karabakh war, Ilham Aliyev said: "The borders of our country and Iran are friendly borders, and the protection of these borders is of particular importance for developing relations between the two countries."

During the inauguration ceremony of the border guard barracks in the liberated city of Jabrayil on the Iranian border, Aliyev also noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan shares borders with the Islamic Republic of Iran on other routes, adding: "These borders are in fact borders of friendship and cooperation, and citizens of both countries who cross these borders enjoy its benefits." 

In another part of his speech, the President of Azerbaijan added: "The increasing volume of cargo traffic also indicates the development of relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Iran."
