Iran, Iraq have various historical, cultural, religious ties

Iraq (IP): The Iranian Foreign Minister said that Iran and Iraq had various historical, cultural, and religious ties.

Iran PressMiddle East: Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday met with Patriarch Louis Raphael I Sako, the head of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq, to emphasize the importance of Iran-Iraq neighborly relations in common values of Islam and Christianity, as well as the Christian community in the two countries. 

He added: "Iran-Iraq relations go beyond conventional political ties. Iran and Iraq have various historical, cultural, and religious ties."

During the meeting, Patriarch Louis Raphael I Sako expressed hope that the Islamic Republic of Iran would be successful in its talks in Vienna on the lifting of US sanctions against the Iranian people.
