Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations called the unilateral coercive measures, especially in the difficult circumstances of the Coronavirus pandemic, a violation of the right to life of the targeted countries and called for their immediate abolition.

Iran Press/America: Iranian envoy at the United Nations Majid Takht Ravanchi at the 54th session of the UN Population and Development Commission on Wednesday said that hundreds of millions will face staggering levels of poverty and hunger without immediate action by the international community.

He added: "In the current difficult situation caused by Covid-19, unilateral coercive measures seriously jeopardize the food security and nutrition of ordinary citizens in the targeted countries."

Iran's representative to the United Nations stressed: "As the representative of one country targeted by such brutal measures, he called for their full and immediate lifting, describing a range of concrete social support measures Iran has managed to implement even under pressure from illegal sanctions."

Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations said: "Despite all the restrictions and pressures of illegal sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken concrete steps to reform existing policies, improve the overall sustainability of food systems, and ensure food security, as well as nutrition for vulnerable populations throughout the country."

Majid Takht-Ravanchi mentioned that Iran hosts more than three million refugees and added: "Iran continues to live up to its humanitarian commitments and, among other services, has offered the opportunity of study to refugee's children at Iranian schools." 219
