Tehran (IP)- Iran's foreign ministry condemned the sanctions imposed on some Iranian institutions, individuals, and legal and natural entities by the European Union, saying that Iran was suspending comprehensive talks with the European Union, including human rights talks and all related cooperation.

Iran PressIran News: Pointing to the European Union's current action, Saeed Khatibzadeh, the spokesman of Iran's Foreign Ministry said on Monday night that Tehran strongly condemned the action as an invalid decision.

The Council of the European Union added eight Iranian individuals and three institutions to its list of sanctions under the pretext of human rights violations.

The spokesman added: "There is no doubt that such actions by human rights claimants discredit them more as abusers of these valuable concepts."

Khatibzadeh stated: "In response, Iran is suspending comprehensive talks with the European Union, including human rights talks and all cooperation resulting from these talks, especially on terrorism, drugs, and refugees."

According to the Foreign Ministry spokesman, Iran is considering its own sanctions in response to the EU action, which will be announced subsequently.
