Iran Press/Asia: Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, as the second destination of his trip to four Central Asian countries, met today (Tuesday) with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev.
In a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Zarif called insecurity and instability in Afghanistan and the spread of extremism and terrorism as common threats in the region.
During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction over his presence in Kyrgyzstan and the hospitality of the Kyrgyz government and people in Kyrgyzstan and congratulated the Kyrgyz government and the nation on the successful holding of the elections.
Zarif added: "There are deep and historical cultural and civilizational relations between the people of Iran and the people of the Central Asian region."
Zarif also said that the two countries' common interests are that Iran can use the region's conditions to expand economic development and provide Kyrgyzstan access to international waters and transit.
The Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in Bishkek as part of a regional tour on Tuesday.
Zarif will continue his regional trip from Bishkek to Nur Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan.
