Iran Press/ Iran News: In reaction to Jordan's latest development, Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed the importance of peace and stability in the Arab country.
Khatibzadeh considered any internal instability in the West Asian region in favor of the Israeli regime and noted that in any sedition in the Islamic country, the regime's footprint was always seen.
The Jordanian government has arrested high-profile figures in the kingdom, including a royal family member and a former chief of the royal court.
Bassem Awadallah, a longtime confidant of King Abdullah II who later became minister of finance and former head of the royal court in 2007-2008, and Sharif Hassan bin Zaid, a member of the royal family who was the former royal envoy to Saudi Arabia, were detained along with other unnamed figures.
Former Crown Prince Hamzah bin Al Hussein – a half-brother of King Abdullah II and popular figure in Jordan-was placed under house arrest.
According to the official Petra news agency, others were also arrested, including mentioned high-profile figures who are close allies of Prince Hamzah.
Jordan’s state-run press warned on Sunday, the day after the detentions, against any attempts to harm the “security and stability” of the kingdom.
However, detentions were followed by harsh criticism of the ruling elite; something never happened before, especially by royal family members.
