10 Covid patients killed after a fire broke out in a hospital in Mumbai late on Thursday night.

Iran Press/Asia: Bodies of two other patients, who died of Covid-19 a few hours before the fire broke out, were also recovered.

The hospital, particularly its intensive care unit, was badly affected. Seven of the patients who died due to the fire were in the ICU; the other three were in the wards. All were on oxygen support. Officials said they died of asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation.

The hospital had 78 patients. All, including the dead, have been accounted for.

Fire extinguishing operations were underway until late on Friday.
