We hope Yemen accept ceasefire: Saudi Arabia

Riyadh (IP) - Saudi Arabia's deputy defense minister expressed hope that the Yemeni National Salvation Government would welcome the Riyadh ceasefire plan.

Iran Press/Middle East: the son of the Saudi king and Deputy Defense Minister, Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz claimed that his country's ceasefire plan was aimed at ending the Yemeni crisis and reaching a political solution.

Khalid bin Salman also expressed hope that peace talks between the Yemeni parties would begin to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution.

On Monday night, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan announced Riyadh's initiative for a ceasefire in Yemen.

The Yemeni government of national salvation has rejected the plan and announced that Saudi Arabia is part of the Yemeni crisis itself and must end the siege and the war against Yemen.

With the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates and several other countries, Saudi Arabia has launched a military invasion of Yemen since March 2015 and a land, sea and air blockade.

The outbreak of war by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has killed more than 17,000 people, injured tens of thousands, and displaced millions of Yemenis.
