Iran's ambassador to Brazil welcomed the resolution of the Brazilian Senate to expand bilateral relations between the two countries.

Iran Press/America: The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Brazil, Hossein Gharibi, in a telephone conversation with Brazilian senators in support of the "Promotion of Relations with Iran" resolution, praised the Brazilian Senate's measure, saying: "Expanding and stabilizing bilateral relations is one of the most important features of Iran-Brazil parliamentary friendship group."

According to the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Brazil: "Iran is one of the most important economic partners of Brazil in Latin American."

Hossein Gharibi stressed that Iranian businessmen have also expanded and shore up Brazil's activities in recent years.

In Tuesday's meeting of the Brazilian Senate, a resolution, which supported the formation of a parliamentary friendship group for expansion of Iran-Brazil relations, was adopted by a consensus of Brazilian senators.

The resolution, which is being debated in the Brazilian Senate for the first time, stresses the Brazilian Congress's role in promoting bilateral relations, referring to the 118-year history of Brazil-Iran relations and its importance for the two countries.

The Brazil-Iran Friendship Group was previously formed in the Brazilian House of Representatives, and thus two strong parliamentary groups are activated in both houses to pursue relations with Iran.
