A deputy to the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Gholam Reza Manouchehri, has said Iran is currently negotiating the development of "Azar and Changouleh" oil fields with Russia's Gazprom.

Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday , Manouchehri, said India is seriously pursuing the further development of the "Farzad B" gas field in the Persian Gulf.

In further comments Manouchehri said the development of  phases 13 ,14 ,22 , and 24 of the giant south Pars gas field is currently underway.

Commenting on the French energy company, Total, Manouchehri said reports that the development of phase 11 of the South Pars gas field has been halted, because of uncertainty vis-a-vis Total, are uncorrect.

He added: "The development of phase 11 has never been halted , and is proceeding according to schedule, as planned.  If Total decides to withdraw from this project, it will be replaced by China's CNPC, which will then lead the consortium".

Earlier, Iranian Oil minister emphasized the decisive role of oil and gas in the world by 2040.

Bijan Zanganeh who attended the Eleventh International Energy Forum in New Delhi said , There needs to be more investment in oil and gas fields.

Zanganeh added, gas is an important issue and the oil market should be non-political and it is not a place of conflict between the countries of the world.
