The Algerian president has announced that early parliamentary elections will be held in June.

Iran Press/Africa: Announcing the date of the early parliamentary elections in Algeria on Thursday, Abdelmadjid Tebboune said the elections would be held on June 12.

The Algerian president last month ordered the dissolution of the country's parliament announcing early elections.

Article 151 of the Algerian Constitution stipulates that elections be organized within a maximum period of 3 months in the event that the People's National Assembly is dissolved. The deadline can be extended for 3 more months in case it is deemed impossible to organize elections upon approval by the Constitutional Court.

Meanwhile, the Algerian president has announced the date of the country's parliamentary elections, which have been the scene of street protests against the government in recent weeks.

Algeria, which has been the scene of protests in recent weeks against the policies of the ruling government and the ouster of former government officials, is still on the brink of tension despite some apparent reforms by Abdelmadjid Tebboune. 219
