JCPOA

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna said Wednesday that the policy of maximum pressure and tightening US sanctions against Iran had failed.

Iran Press/Europe: Mikhail Ulyanov said in a Russian-language tweet: "The policy of maximum pressure (against Iran) has proved its weak, ineffective, and unconstructive nature."

The Russian diplomat added: "Now where are the twelve  preconditions that Pompeo (former US Secretary of State) had set?" Nevertheless, Pompeo wants his successor to follow the same path with the same predictable results.

Iran and the US have been locked in a bitter dispute over who should make the first move toward reviving the JCPOA. Iran has said that the US must lift sanctions before any new talks over the JCPOA can take place. But the US keeps refusing to lift the sanctions.
