Tehran (IP): The deputy head of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution's office for international communications praised the Ayatollah Sistani's stances in a meeting with the leader of the world's Catholics Pope Francis, describing the wise positions of the top Iraq Shia cleric as an honor for Islam.

Iran PressIran News: Mohsen Qomi in a meeting with officials of cultural institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, referred to Ayatollah Ali Sistani's emphasis in this historic meeting on important international issues, including the occupation of Quds, saying: "The emphasis of Ayatollah Sistani ruled out the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime." 

Referring to the appreciation of Pope Francis from Ayatollah Sistani's strategy in protecting the lives of people and Christians, he expressed hope that obstacles for cooperation between Islam and Christianity, including Islamophobic and Shiaphobia policies in Western countries, would be removed.

On Saturday morning, 6 March, Pope Francis, the leader of the world's Catholics during his visit to Iraq, met the top Shai marja' in Iraq, Ayatollah Ali Sistani.

Pope Francis, accompanied by his delegation, went to Ayatollah Sistani's house in Najaf.
