Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister stressed the need for a complete and effective lifting of illegal US sanctions and said: "This action will lead to the return of Iran's compensatory steps."

Iran Press/Iran News: Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney, who arrived in Tehran last night at the head of a delegation.

The two sides discussed bilateral, regional, and international issues.

The Irish Foreign Minister reiterated that, in accordance with the agreements reached, the embassy of the country would be reopened in Tehran.

The other part of the talks between the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Ireland was related to the latest developments about the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Zarif reiterated the complete and effective lifting of illegal US sanctions.

Simon Coveney also said that Ireland would work to facilitate lifting Iran's sanctions when it becomes a non-permanent member of the Security Council.

Examining how to work together to help reduce regional tensions was another topic discussed by the foreign ministers, during which developments in the Persian Gulf, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan, and the Caucasus were discussed.

Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney also met with President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday.
