Erbil (IP) - The world's Catholic Leader, arrived in Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, this morning on the third day of his trip to Iraq.

Iran Press/Middle East: President of Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani welcomed Pope Francis at Erbil Airport.

The Pope will meet regional political officials and leaders at the Erbil Government Hall.

The Erbil governor's office had announced that the entrances to the province would be closed on Sunday and asked citizens and people not to travel to Erbil. The entrances to Ninawa and Kirkuk provinces are also closed due to the pope's visit.

Pope Francis traveled to Iraq on Friday and met the Iranian Shai marja' in Iraq, Ayatollah Ali Sistani, in Najaf on Saturday morning.
