Iran (IP)- In a meeting on Thursday, the Consul-General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nakhchivan and Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic discussed bilateral cooperation in areas, including environment and natural resources.

Iran press/ Asia: In this meeting, after congratulating the success of the Republic of Azerbaijan in reclaiming the occupied territories and congratulating Nowruz (New Year starting from 21 Marc, 2021) in advance, the expansion of cooperation in the fields of environment and natural resources was discussed.

In this regard, the need to pay attention to the environmental issues of the Aras River and the protection of this common heritage was stressed, and it was noted that it is necessary for the two sides to work together on the possibilities that lead to reducing the water of this river and its pollution.

Referring to the cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran on various issues of operation of Aras River water resources, the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Nakhchivan, Mayis Aliyev stressed that fortunately there is no problem in this regard, and experts from both sides are in constant contact with each other.

The Consul-General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nakhchivan, Ahmad Hosseini, also referred to the visit of the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Nakhchivan and the talks between Mohammad Javad Zarif and the Speaker of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Wasef Talibov, in which cooperation on the Aras River and environmental issues were noted, expressing satisfaction with the growing trend of relations in areas, including the construction of dams and power plants under construction between the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Hosseini considered the idea of ​​holding a joint ceremony between the two countries in the 50th year of Aras operation as an important activity to deepen friendship and ties between the two countries and announced the readiness of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran for any assistance and follow-up in this regard.
