Baghdad (IP) - In its first comment on recent US airstrikes on its positions, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) known as al-Hashd al-Shaabi noted that the United States targeted their positions not on Syrian soil but on the Iraqi border, leaving one dead.

Iran PressMiddle East: The US Department of Defense, Pentagon, claimed on Friday morning that the US military has bombed positions belonging to Resistance groups in Syria’s Al Bukamal at the behest of the US President Joe Biden.

The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) also said in a statement that, contrary to US claims, their forces were not present on Syrian soil but were stationed on the border to defend the country against terrorism.

PMF added: "This aggression predicts dangerous developments in the future that must be prevented."

Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby said in a press release earlier that the United States carried out airstrikes authorized by President Joe Biden against facilities belonging to Resistance groups in eastern Syria on Thursday.

Reuters also claimed in a report that the facilities belonged to Resistance groups in Syria.

The ABC news network also claimed that the airstrikes targeted buildings belonging to Kata’ib Hezbollah and other resistance groups in Syria’s Al Bukamal.

Resistance has right to attack US targets in Iraq: Al-Nujaba

The Spokesman for the al-Nujaba movement said the Iraqi resistance had the right to attack US military targets in the country.

Regarding the US airstrikes on Iraqi resistance positions on the Iraq-Syria border, the Spokesman for the Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, Nasr al-Shammari, told Al-Mayadeen on Sunday night: "All previous Iraqi resistance agreements with the government on attacking US interests have been annulled, and now the resistance has the right to set its own goals."

He stated that the resistance, despite calling the US embassy in Baghdad a spy nest, had agreed not to target it.

Al-Shammari criticized the Iraqi government for not providing any explanation for the recent US attack.

He warned that if the government refused to introduce mercenary elements, it would oblige the Islamic resistance to deal with those who passed on al-Hashd al-Sha'abi information to the United States.

US warplanes targeted the area between Al-Bukamal in Syria and Al-Qa'im in Iraq on the border between the two countries on Friday morning, killing one al-Hashd al-Sha'abi force and wounding four others.

The Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba also stated in a statement that the resistance would respond to this crime harshly and proportionately and that the perpetrators would pay a heavy price, noting that the accomplices and facilitators of this crime would not be ignored.
