Tehran (IP) – Iran's Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism stated that Iran's tourism was powerfully standing against sanctions and maximum pressures just the same as Iranians.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking at the opening of Int'l Tourism and Handicraft Exhibition ceremony held at Tehran at the Int'l Permanent Fairground, Ali-Asghar Mounesan said that with people's help, the tourism sector had increased the attractions, as well as domestic and foreign visitors, noting that the sector's economy stood independent of the governmental budget and gained significant achievement.

Mounesan stressed natural attractions and diverse cultures as the country's most important pillars of economic sectors to attract tourists and said that during the coming Iranian New Year, "Nowruz" tourism would focus on all parts of the country with observing all health protocols. It was no longer going to focus on touristic cities.

The minister referred to agricultural, industrial, and mining tourism as new terms that entered the tourism industry, aiming to boost tourism.

The official pointed to the coronavirus outbreak and said although Iran's economy, including the handicraft sector, was impacted by the COVID-19, the country exported its products worth 1.5 billion dollars.

Emphasizing that Iran has undergone unprecedented challenges which have impacted the country's economy, Mounesan added that tourism had emerged more active than ever through intellectual planning and goal-setting.

The opening Int'l Tourism and Handicraft Exhibition ceremony was held at Tehran Int'l permanent Fairground on Tuesday morning with the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Ali-Asghar Mounesan, the deputies, and Parliamentarians.

From February 23 to 26, 2021, the exhibition is underway for tourism activists, with health protocols being observed.
