Tehran (IP) – The deputy minister of management development of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Ministry said Iran is trying to use the knowledge-based and accelerator companies’ capacities to improve tourism status in the region and the world.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony to support innovation in creative digital businesses in tourism, Mohammad Khayyatian stated that Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Ministry was ready to share its experiences, management, knowledge, and information with knowledge-based companies to improve and develop Iran's tourism status.

Roughly 2,527 tourism projects are underway to be completed by people's investments worth 159,000 billion tomans, indicating high potential tourism.

He pointed out that although the coronavirus pandemic had been threatening, it also created opportunities to facilitate and accelerate the tourism sector.

Khayyatian highlighted that the knowledge-based accelerators and startup companies had gained significant achievements and had provided help amid the pandemic.

To boost and improve the country's economy, tourism should be expanded, Khayyatian added.

As the next keynote speaker, the Secretary of Digital and Intelligent Economic Development Headquarters Mehdi Mohammadi stressed that people’s capacities and capabilities and non-oil dependency economies should be used.

The MoU signing ceremony to support innovation in creative digital businesses in Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts was held at the vice president's office for science and technology in Tehran on Feb 15, 2021.
