Iran is winning economic war: Rouhani

Tehran (IP) - Speaking at the 206th meeting of the Cabinet's Economic Coordination Board, the Iranian President said that Iran's assets to be released in some countries and as a result, some sanctions problems had been resolved.

Iran PressIran news: The 206th meeting of the Cabinet's Economic Coordination Board was held today heading by Iranian president Hassan Rouhani.

In the beginning, the Governor of the Central Bank Abdolnaser Hemmati presented a report on his recent talks and agreements reached with representatives of South Korea, Japan, Iraq, and Oman on how to use Iran's blocked assets in these countries. Referring to the agreement, Rouhani said: "Now we are witnessing the defeat of the enemy in the imposed economic war and the ineffectiveness of sanctions, and the maximum resistance of the people against this full-scale war of the enemy has been achieved to its goals."

Rouhani added: "Undoubtedly, releasing of Iran's assets, which was illegally blocked, will provide openings in the economy."

Rouhani stated: "Any action that harms economic stability is a betrayal of the people and the economy."

In the meeting, the Ministry of Silence also reported on the measures taken to implement the Preferential trade arrangements (PTAs) with the Eurasian Union and the amount of trade and exchange with the countries of the Union and the start of negotiations on a free trade agreement with the Union.

According to the report, Iran's exports to the Eurasian region have increased by 30% following the implementation of the preferential trade agreement.

"Iran has always used peaceful diplomatic means and de-escalation to achieve this goal, and the preferential trade agreement with the Eurasian Union has been one of the most beneficial and effective measures in the field of international trade in recent years," Rouhani said.

The President stressed: "We should introduce Iran as a reliable and predictable country in international society and trade interactions", emphasizing: "We should use Iran's successful experience of preferential trade with Eurasia to increase Iran's presence in new markets and cooperation to expand investment, transportation, cleanliness and banking, energy and other business, regional and global interactions."
