Baghdad (IP) - The head of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council on Tuesday officially welcomed the Chief of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the headquarters of the Supreme Judicial Council.

Iran PressMiddle East: Ebrahim Raisi and the accompanying delegation were officially welcomed by the chairman of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council today (Tuesday) at the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council headquarters in Baghdad. 

The ceremony was attended by a wide range of Iraqi judicial officials and was covered by a large number of Iranian and Iraqi media representatives.

Faeq Zidan, chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, welcomed Ebrahim Raisi and his accompanying delegation during a special ceremony in Baghdad.

Iranian top officials also hailed the warm welcome of the Iraqi host.

Following the ceremony, Zidan and Raisi began formal consultations at the headquarters of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council.

Iran and Iraq are expected to sign several memoranda of understanding in the legal and judicial fields today.

The chief of the judiciary arrived in Baghdad last night on a three-day visit at the official invitation of Faiq Zidan, chairman of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council, and is scheduled to meet with President Barham Salih, Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi, and Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi.

The chief of the judiciary then attended the assassination spot of General Qasem Soleimani, the late commander of the Quds Force, and Haj Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Organization, near Baghdad International Airport to honor the memory of these martyrs and their companions.
