Iran Press/ Middle East: Ebrahim Raisi traveled to Iraq at the invitation of Faiq Zidan, chairman of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council.
In Baghdad, he is scheduled to meet with the chairman of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council, the president, the prime minister, and other Iraqi officials to discuss issues of mutual interest, including the promotion of legal and judicial relations between the two countries and the follow-up to the assassination of the late commander of the IRGC Qods Forces Lieutenant General Ghasem Soleimani and his entourage.
Upon arrival in Baghdad, Raisi, while visiting the memorial to the Haj Ghasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes at Baghdad airport, told reporters that the resistance of the Iraqi people, the brave and courageous youth, the Iraqi army, and the people's forces against the foreigners, the agents of the Great Satan and the Takfiris, is commendable.
He said that General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes both belong to the Islamic Ummah and humanity.
Emphasizing that the assassination of these two great commanders of Islam will never go unanswered, Ayatollah Raisi said: "These two people and their companions were heroes in the fight against terrorism and heroes in creating security for Iraq, Iran, and the region."
"Those who martyred them do not want the people of Iran and Iraq to live in security," he reiterated.
He went on to say, "The deep cultural, ideological, and religious ties between Iran and Iraq have a long history."
Iran's Judiciary Chief considered the cultural and social ties between Iran and Iraq as so strong that they will never be broken by any conspiracy or sedition.
