Tehran (IP) - An advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker stated that the purpose of the Iranian Parliament Speaker's visit to Russia is to increase economic and trade interactions.

Iran Press/Iran News: Babak Negahdari said: "Heading a high-ranking delegation, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament will head to Moscow on Sunday, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin.”

Negahdari added: “In addition to delivering the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei to the Russian government, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s three-day visit will include meetings with his counterparts in the Duma and the Senate, as well as economic, trade, political and security officials."

Stressing that the promotion of Iran-Russia relations to a strategic level is one of the most important goals of the Parliament Speaker’s visit, Negahdari stated: "Various meetings in economic issues and trade relations are an important part of the Speaker's visit to Russia."

Noting the low level of trade between Tehran and Moscow, Negahdari added: "In the presence of economic activists in Iran and Russia, the speaker of the parliament will closely examine the challenges and problems of trade between the two countries to plan to improve trade and economic exchanges."

Referring to other economic goals of the Parliament Speaker's visit to Russia, he said: "In addition to strengthening economic cooperation in the form of bilateral relations, strengthening trade relations in the form of the Eurasian Union where Iran is an observer, as well as discussing the North and South corridors are among the important issues of Ghalibaf's visit to Russia.”

Adviser to the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly added: "Meeting with the Speaker of the Duma of the Russian Federation and the thinkers of the Institute of Oriental Studies will also be among the plans of the Parliament Speaker in this trip."
