US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken spoke with the President of Afghanistan, the EU's foreign policy chief, and his Italian counterpart.

Iran Press/America: "In an interview with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Blinken reaffirmed the United States' commitment to sustained cooperation with Kabul," State Department spokesman Edward Price said in a press release on Thursday.

The State Department spokesman also announced that the US Secretary of State had contacted Joseph Borrell, the EU's foreign policy chief.

He said the two sides discussed ways to repair, revitalize and strengthen US-EU relations.

Price noted that Blinken emphasized the United States' willingness to work with the European Union and its member states to address common challenges such as Covid-19, climate change, transatlantic data flows, and economic cooperation.

The State Department spokesman also said that Antony Blinken conferred with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio expressing a desire to rebuild and strengthen lasting cooperation between the United States and Italy.

Price noted that the US secretary of state had emphasized the United States' willingness to work with Italy, especially in its role as head of the G20, other partners to meet common challenges, including Covid-19, climate change and China.

He added that the US and Italian foreign ministers also agreed to continue cooperation in Libya. 219
