Tehran (IP) - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) President's Representative to the Islamic Republic of Iran said that COVID-19 has created opportunities to have a greener environment, though restrictions are imposed.

Iran PressIran News: "We must cooperate more to innovate and thrive the cities, Claudio Providas said at the 5th Tehran Golden Adobe Award on Tuesday.

Providas stressed that the event creates opportunities to exchange new experiences worldwide even amid the coronavirus and health crisis.

Digitalization and modernity increase adaptable and greener buildings, he noted.

As the next keynote speaker, the Chairman of the City Council of Tehran Mohsen Hashemi Rafsanjani said that the coronavirus has engulfed the world for nearly 400 days which is an unprecedented challenge during the century.

"Though coronavirus has caused innumerable challenges and problems, it also has effective sides like caring more about the environment we are living in and getting closer together," Hashemi added.

He stressed that the coronavirus has changed the word's face, so designers, builders, and other city activists to make resilient cities and provide people with calmness.

Tehran Golden Adobe Global Award is an innovative urban management initiative that was established by the Municipality of Tehran and has been held annually since 31 October 2014 coinciding with World Cities Day.
