Since 31 December 2019 and as of week 2021-2, more than 94 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported, including more than 2 million deaths, while the US reported its second-highest daily death toll of the pandemic with 4,375.

Iran PressAmerica: The continents are deeply involved and challenging with the novel virus including Africa: 3,263,605, Asia: 19,076,296, America: 42,257,586, Europe: 29,927,859 Oceania: 56,822 cases, according to WorldOmeter.

While the US suffers more than any other place in the world, President Joe Biden announced his pandemic plan Thursday and signed a flurry of executive orders, including mandating the use of masks on planes, buses, trains and at airports, and quarantine orders for international travelers. He warned that the devastating impact of the pandemic will continue for months, with total deaths likely to top 500,000 next month.

“Things are going to continue to get worse before they get better,” he said, adding that the use of masks is the single best tool the nation has to slow the spread of the virus, considering that it will take months before the majority of the population is vaccinated.

His remarks came one day after the United States recorded 4,375 deaths Wednesday, the deadliest day of the coronavirus pandemic, and on the same day, he was sworn in as the country’s 46th president and reiterated his pledge to take on the crisis facing the nation.
