Iran slams suicide bombings in Baghdad

Baghdad (IP) - Iran's Embassy in Baghdad condemned suicide attacks in the Iraqi capital that killed and injured several citizens.

Iran PressIran News: Twin suicide bombs rocked a busy market in central Baghdad on Thursday morning, killing at least 28 and wounding 73 others, according to the Iraqi military.

In a statement, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad expressed its condolences to the families of the victims of the terrorist crime and wished the injured a fast recovery.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran, as usual, emphasizes the support of the Iraqi government and people and is ready for any possible assistance," the statement noted.

The Iranian embassy in Baghdad expressed hope that the Iraqi security services would arrest and punish the main perpetrators of the explosion as soon as possible.

A suicide bomber blew up his explosive belt in a crowded market in Bab al-Sharji area, and a second one detonated his a few minutes later in the same market, sources said.
