Gov't Spox:

Tehran (IP) - The Iranian government spokesman said that US respect for international law is a global demand and the new US administration has an opportunity to unconditionally return to its obligations under Security Council Resolution 2231 and draw new horizons for its relations with Iran and the international community.

Iran PressIran News: "Tomorrow, the evil Trump administration will come to its end road, and the United States will have a new president," government spokesman Ali Rabiee told a news conference in the presence of reporters from various media outlets and stated: "A president who has the opportunity to represent the loud voice of the American people to change practices that have led to humiliation, confusion, and isolation of the United States for at least the past four years."

He noted: "Today, American accountability and respect for international law and norms is global demand. The new US administration should not selectively make up for the legacy and, in fact, the stigma left by the previous administration."

The official went on to say: "The United States will soon have a new opportunity, instead of succumbing to the temptations that resulted in widespread violations of international law and crimes against humanity in seemingly civilized ways at the expense of world peace and security and the interests of the Iranian and American peoples, with sincere intentions and actions, unconditionally return to its obligations under Security Council Resolution 2231 and draw new horizons for its relations with Iran and the international community."

The government spokesman said: "The fact will not change that the policy of maximum pressure on the Iranian people has become a scandal lasting in history; not only for those who delusionally inflicted unprecedented suffering on our innocent people but also for those in the Persian and non-Persian language media abroad who shamelessly shared in this the suffering and inflicted this pain by propagating this modern barbarism."

Pointing out that our people today and tomorrow can judge fairly and separate good intentions from the evil ones, he said: "People, neither forget nor forgive the perpetrators and accomplices of this organized economic crime."

Rabiee added: "With US maximum pressure policy and sanctions when many were expecting hyperinflation for this year, the government prevented it, and economic management took place at a time when the unexpected crisis of the coronavirus had imposed a double burden on the society."

The government spokesman noted: "Worse than that legacy is the attempt to use it as a tool to put pressure on nations. Our people's resistance to this day should leave no doubt that pressure and sanctions can never force us to surrender to extravagance."

Asked Biden's return to the JCPOA, Rabiee went on to say: "Our focus is on the JCPOA, and the US government should live up to its commitments to the JCPOA and Resolution 2231."

"We have not received any message from Team Biden," He added.
