Iran Press/Iran News: During a meeting on Wednesday, the Iranian Minister of Energy and the Iraqi Minister of Trade signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the border, transportation, customs, and investment tariffs.
At the closing session of the Iran-Iraq Joint Commission, the Iranian Minister of Energy talked about the border agreement between the two countries, adding that the main problem for the two countries in exporting and importing goods was restrictions which were to be lifted with the cooperation of both parties.
Ardakanian stated that the two sides agreed to set up a joint industrial committee as well.
He also informed about water cooperation between the two countries, adding that the relevant committee has invited Iraqi water resources to cooperate with Iran.
Regarding cooperation in the field of transportation, the Minister of Energy noted that Iran has made the offer and Iraq has promised cooperation in this field.
He also announced Iraq's proposal to increase the number of Iraqi planes flying over Iran.
Ardakanian stressed that good agreements were reached between the two countries in the field of information technology and issues related to medical and scientific cooperation including the establishment of a branch of Iran University of Medical Sciences in Iraq.
He also highlighted that the private and public sectors of the two countries are cooperating in an appropriate framework and a committee will be set up in Tehran and Baghdad to follow up on these issues.
The closing ceremony of the Joint Commission on Iran-Iraq Cooperation and signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the presence of Iranian Minister of Energy and Iraqi Minister of Trade was held on Wednesday in Tehran.
