Tehran (IP) - New COVID-19 deaths in Iran have decreased to 71, according to the latest figures by the Iran Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

Iran PressIran News: The Spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health Sima Sadat Lari announced on Sunday that 1,286,406 people in the country had been infected with the coronavirus, and 1,074,877 of them, recovered.

According to definitive laboratory findings from yesterday to Sunday, 10 January 2021 newly diagnosed patients with COVID-19 were 5,968 cases out of whom 417 patients were hospitalized, Sima Sadat Lari stated.

She noted that in the past 24 hours, 71 COVID-19 patients had lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 56,171.

4,664 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, according to the spokeswoman.

So far, 8,153, 264 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted across the country, the Health Ministry spokeswoman pointed out.

"Based on the latest statistics, the cities of Sari, Amol, Fereydounkenar, Qaemshahr, and Neka in Mazandaran Province, and Bandar Gaz and Kordkuy in Golestan Province, northern Iran, are regarded as red zones, 30 cities as orange zones, and 219 cities as yellow zones and 192 cities as blue zones," Lari said.
