Tehran (IP) - New COVID-19 deaths in Iran has decreased to 82, according to the latest figures by the health ministry.

Iran PressIran News: The Spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health Sima Sadat Lari announced on Friday that 1,280,438 people in the country had been infected with the coronavirus, and 1,067,466 of them, recovered.

According to definitive laboratory findings from yesterday to Saturday, 09 January 2021 newly diagnosed patients with COVID-19 were 5,924 cases out of whom 456 patients were hospitalized, Sima Sadat Lari stated.

She noted that in the past 24 hours, 82 COVID-19 patients had lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 56,100.

4,686 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, according to the spokeswoman.

So far, 8,099,191 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted across the country, the Health Ministry spokeswoman pointed out.

"Based on the latest statistics, the cities of Sari, Amol, Fereydounkenar, Qaemshahr, and Neka in Mazandaran Province, and Bandar Gaz and Kordkuy in Golestan Province, northern Iran, are regarded as red zones, 30 cities as orange zones, and 219 cities as yellow zones and 192 cities as blue zones," Lari said.
