Al-Maliki: US enmity with Iran is because of Zionist regime

The former Iraqi prime minister and current secretary-general of the Islamic Dawa Party blamed the US enmity with Iran for Tehran's opposition to the Zionist regime and stressed that Iran would respond to any possible US adventure.

Iran Press/Middle East: In an interview with Afaq TV, Nouri al-Maliki stated that the 1979 revolution in Iran caused the Americans to oppose the country.

Al-Maliki said about the developments in Iraq during his years as prime minister (2013-4): "The conspiracy against Iraq was big and some regional countries participated in it and spent a lot of money to implement the plot."

Referring to US support for terrorists in Iraq, he said the Americans were negotiating with the Ba'athists and the Naqshbandi terrorist group that joined ISIS to carry out a sectarian conspiracy against Iraq.

The former Iraqi Prime Minister pointed out: The Americans wanted to take revenge on me with their conspiracy in Iraq because I drove them out of Iraq.

Regarding The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), al-Maliki added: "Al-Hashd al-Shaabi must be protected and supported, because al-Hashd al-Shaabi means Iraq."

Al-Maliki also referred to the normalization of relations between some Arab regimes and the Zionist regime, saying: "The normalization of relations is a betrayal of the Islamic Ummah, and the countries who think that their crises will end with normalization is at the height of illusions."

The former Iraqi prime minister also said about the recent riots in the US and the attack of Trump supporters on Congress: "The chaos that took place in the United States  announcing the arrival of a new era that should be considered and learned from."
