Tehran (IP) - The spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the main agenda of the South Korean delegation in Tehran deals with the way Iran can reach its blocked financial resources in Seoul.

Iran Press/Iran News: Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Thursday that the visit of the South Korean delegation to Tehran was planned before the seizure of the Korean ship.

According to South Korean banks, $9.2 billion of Iranian assets in South Korea's banks have been frozen due to the US' harsh sanctions.

The spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier said the seizure of the Korean ship in the Iranian coasts is a technical issue, noting that Iran, like any other country, is sensitive about the protection of its marine environment and confronts any violation of it.

Due to repeated violations of environmental laws, a South Korean-flagged tanker, which was sailing from the port of Saudi Jubail in the Persian Gulf, was seized by the navy of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).

The ship Hankuk Chemi was carrying 7,200 tons of chemicals when it was impounded.

The Korean tanker is currently anchored in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran.
