Iran can easily enrich uranium to 90%: AEOI spox

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Atomic Energy Organization spokesman said Iran could easily enrich uranium over 20 percent, including 90 percent.

Iran Press/Iran News: Behrouz Kamalvandi said on Thursday that Iran's nuclear progress is such that it can easily enrich uranium to any percentage.

He noted that the Islamic Consultative Assembly says if the need for uranium enrichment is above 20%, AEOI can do it.

Following Islamic Consultative Assembly's recent enactment under the title "Law of Strategic Action to Lift Sanctions and Protect the Interests of the Iranian Nation," the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran was obliged to produce 20% enriched uranium for peaceful purposes and to store at least 120 kg of it annually inside the country.

The AEOI was also obliged to fully meet the country's need for peaceful uranium uses enriched above 20% in no time.

Accordingly, the 20% uranium enrichment was resumed on Monday, January 4, 2021, at the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant.

Iran's move provoked reactions, and the European troika (Britain, France and Germany) expressed concern in a statement about 20 percent uranium enrichment in Iran.
